Impossibly Fun

Impossible Project's Dave Bias, doing his thing

This weekend we opened two shows, and I daresay it is collectively some of the best work we have had in the gallery.  The tintypes and daguerreotypes in the Wet Plate and Mirrors show is stunning.  Truly.  And after Dave Bias’ Impossible Project lecture, fim demo and snap happy presence at the Instant Gratification opening this weekend, I think every person in attendance is now rooting through their parents’ closets looking for an old Polaroid camera.

The lecture video will be posted later in the week, and you’ll definitely want to check it out (Edwin Land was a full-on genius and the history of both Polaroid and Impossible Project is fascinating), but until then, here are a few snaps on Impossible film from the weekend:

Lori Vrba and me, happy hour

Now these are all taken with a Polaroid camera using Impossible film and then photographed with my iphone (and an old one at that) and posted here.  If you want to see pictures from the actual openings, check out this photostream from Burnaway.

Burnaway also did a radio segment with Dave Bias , and Creative Loafing wrote a nice piece about the shows as well.  So if you’re feeling like you need a little more, check those out too.
